The island of São Vicente is very populated, mainly in the capital: Mindelo.

According to many Cape Verdeans is where the true capital of the archipelago is: the beautiful port city of Mindelo. Nowadays, this is a very lively and cosmopolitan city that stretches along the wide bay manicured by the shape of the Islet of Birds, a small pearl of West Africa. The centre of the city is composed by beautiful buildings of colonial style that makes it the most cleaned and lively of the entire archipelago. The true life of the city appear at night, when Midenlo is magic with lights that coloured the place. People meet and take Caipiriña or Grog, listening music with Latin rhythms that people finish to dance at dawn.
